A short, honest explanation of the cookies and similar technologies we use — and the ones we don't.
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. The next time you visit, your browser sends it back, allowing the site to recognise you and remember things like your login state or theme preference. It is one of the oldest, simplest pieces of web technology.
"Similar technologies" — like local storage, session storage, and tracking pixels — work in slightly different ways but serve the same broad purpose. We treat them the same way as cookies in this policy.
Our position on cookies: we use the minimum necessary to operate the platform. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not sell or share your data with ad networks. We do not track you across other websites.
We group cookies into four categories. Some are required for the platform to function. Others are optional and only set if you opt in.
For full transparency, here is the breakdown of cookies we currently set on the platform:
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| session | Keeps you logged in between page loads | Necessary | Session |
| theme | Stores your light or dark mode preference | Necessary | 12 months |
| locale | Stores your language preference | Necessary | 12 months |
| csrf_token | Security token to prevent cross-site request forgery | Necessary | Session |
| sidebar_state | Remembers if you have the sidebar expanded or collapsed | Functional | 6 months |
As we add features (multi-factor authentication, advanced analytics, etc.), this list will grow. We will update it whenever new cookies are introduced.
All major browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies. You can also block them entirely — but be aware that strictly necessary cookies are required for the platform to work, so blocking them will prevent you from logging in.
When we add optional cookies (functional or analytics), you will see a consent banner the first time you visit. You can accept all, reject all, or pick categories. Your choice is stored and respected on every visit. You can change your preferences at any time from your profile settings.
Beta-stage note: during beta, only strictly necessary cookies are in use. The consent banner will appear when we introduce optional cookies — at which point this policy will be updated and you will be notified.
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. The standard is not consistently implemented across the web, but our position is simple: we don't track you across other sites regardless of your DNT setting. The cookies we use are limited to operating the platform you're on.
We will update this policy when we add or remove cookies, change retention periods, or introduce new categories. The effective date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
When changes are material — for example, introducing a new category of cookies — we will notify you on your next visit and ask for fresh consent where required.
