Accessibility

Built to be used by everyone.

Sohana is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to all users regardless of disability, assistive technology, device, or connection speed. Financial tools should not create new barriers for the people who need them most.

Our conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across all public-facing pages of the Sohana platform. This is the internationally recognised standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (EAA), the UK Equality Act 2010, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

We are a platform in active development and in some areas we are still working toward full conformance. We believe in transparency about this — where gaps exist, we document them and fix them rather than making claims we cannot yet substantiate.

What we have built

The following accessibility features are currently implemented across the Sohana platform:

⌨️

Full keyboard navigation

Every interactive element on the public site is reachable and operable via keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators throughout.

🔊

Screen reader support

Semantic HTML5 markup, ARIA labels on interactive components, and meaningful alt text on all non-decorative images.

🌓

Dark and light mode

Full light/dark mode toggle respects system preferences via prefers-color-scheme and stores your choice persistently.

🔡

Scalable text

All text uses relative units (rem/em). The interface scales cleanly when browser text size is increased up to 200%.

📱

Responsive layout

Every page is fully responsive from 320px to 4K. No content becomes inaccessible at any viewport width.

🎨

Colour contrast

Primary text on our dark background meets the WCAG AA 4.5:1 contrast ratio requirement. Accent elements meet 3:1 for large text.

Touch target sizing

All interactive elements meet a minimum touch target size of 44×44px, following WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.5.5.

⏸️

Motion control

Decorative animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query and are paused for users who request reduced motion.

🌍

Language declaration

All pages declare their language in the HTML lang attribute. The platform supports EN and FR throughout.

Known limitations

We are transparent about areas that are not yet fully conformant. Our development team is actively working on each of the following:

  • Complex SVG charts and gauges — animated SVGs on the NCS, Wallet, and product pages have partial ARIA labelling. We are adding comprehensive text alternatives and ARIA descriptions progressively.
  • PDF generation — downloadable receipts and transaction histories are not yet accessible PDFs. We are implementing tagged PDF generation.
  • Third-party embeds — any third-party components (maps, video) may not fully conform. We flag these where they appear.
  • Legacy admin templates — some admin-facing pages were built before our accessibility standards were formalised. We are auditing and retrofitting these progressively.

Assistive technologies we test against

  • NVDA + Firefox on Windows (primary screen reader test environment)
  • VoiceOver + Safari on macOS and iOS
  • TalkBack + Chrome on Android
  • JAWS + Chrome on Windows
  • Zoom Text for magnification testing
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking for voice navigation testing

Formal accessibility assessment

This statement was prepared through a combination of self-evaluation by the Sohana engineering team and review against the WCAG 2.1 AA checklist. A third-party audit by a specialist accessibility consultancy is scheduled as part of our regulatory authorisation preparation for ACPR (France) and FCA (UK).

The most recent self-assessment was completed in May 2026. We update this statement after each significant platform release.

Feedback and contact

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on any part of the Sohana platform — whether it prevents you from completing a task or simply makes it harder — we want to know. Your feedback is how we prioritise our accessibility work.

Email support@sohana.app with the subject line "Accessibility". Include the page URL and a description of the barrier. We will acknowledge your report within 2 business days and aim to resolve substantive issues within 14 days or provide a workaround in the interim.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to contact the French Digital Accessibility Defender (Défenseur des droits) or the UK Equality and Human Rights Commission, depending on your jurisdiction.
